Enregistré à l’hiver 2018 au studio Hi Style de Chicago, In the Doghouse est le résultat de la collaboration, débutée en 2016, entre le saxophoniste américain Sam Burckhardt, légende de la scène blues de Chicago (il a joué pendant 20 ans dans le groupe de Sunnyland Slim, enregistré avec Hubert Summlin, et joué avec les plus grandes stars du Chicago Blues) et le guitariste Lucas Montagnier, étoile montante de la scène blues et jazz Parisienne.
Mélangeant standards (Way Down Yonder In New Orleans, I Almost Lost My Mind…), originaux (P.M Blues, In The Doghouse, Sister Rosetta…) instrumentaux et morceaux chantés (Noisy Joe, I’m Lost Without You…), ce premier opus nous offre un voyage vers les années 50 et 60, époque où le blues se mélange au jazz, emprunte au gospel et au rythmn and blues.
